Tour 7 - combo transfer - tour from Prague to Salzburg with a 3 hours sightseeing stop in Cesky Krumlov and 3 hours stop in Hallstatt
The trip from Prague to Salzburg takes around 5 hours. Stopping in the South Bohemian jewel, Cesky Krumlov, and in Hallstatt, allows you to split your trip into 3 shorter ones, while seeing more of what the Czech Republic and Austria have to offer. Both Cesky Krumlov and Hallstatt are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites and have plenty for you to do in your 3-hours stops. Cesky Krumlov has the second largest castle in the Czech Republic as its main attraction, and Hallstatt has its famous salt mines. Both locations are small enough for you to get the most out of them in your short stops. You can do a tour of the Cesky Krumlov Castle, and then get lost in the cobblestone streets of the Old Town while searching for the perfect place to have lunch in. In Hallstatt you can visit the Salt Mine and then relax by a cafe overlooking Lake Hallstatt.
Passengers are free to explore Cesky Krumlov and Hallstatt on their own after being dropped off. However, there is also the option for us to arrange private tours, with English-speaking guides, in both locations that will take you around all of the must-see landmarks. Each private tour has a minimum duration of 2 hours.
What to visit in Cesky Krumlov
Cesky Krumlov Castle
Considered one of the largest castles in the world (but only the second largest in the Czech Republic), the Cesky Krumlov Castle's gardens are over 10 hectares long and host several events during the year. The castle tower is visible from most places in Cesky Krumlov and offers an excellent view of the city and the surrounding countryside.
Latran
Latran is a spectacularly preserved part of the Old Town in Cesky Krumlov. Walking through its winding cobblestone streets will make you feel like you have gone back to the medieval times. These streets, however, pack the best restaurants in Cesky Krumlov and are a great place to have lunch in.
Budweiser Gate
Although Cesky Krumlov had 9 gates in its fortifications, the Budweiser Gate is the only gate that is still standing. This majestic gate is a very interesting piece of architecture and should be viewed from both sides, since it is very different on each one. The outside walls of the gate are menacing, while the inside walls feature Renaissance decorations.
What to visit in Hallstatt
Hallstatt Salt Mine
The Hallstatt Salt Mine is one of the oldest salt mines in the world. Records indicate that it was already active in the 15th century. Until the 1960's it was one of the most important mines in the entire region, but then it ended its activity. There's a great lookout at the Hallstatt Salt Mine that allows visitors to have a spectacular view of Lake Hallstatt and its surrounding mountains.
Church of Christ
Hallstatt has always housed a large number of protestant citizens. As the protestants did not have a church, they built a prayer house in the 18th century. A few decades later, the prayer house was rebuilt into one of the most iconic buildings in Hallstatt, the Church of Christ.
