Tour 70 - From Munich to Prague with 3 hours stop in Dachau and 2 hours sightseeing in Flossenburg (total 5 hours sightseeing included)

This sightseeing transfer from Munich to Prague allows you to learn more about World War II and its atrocities by taking you to two concentration camps: Flossenburg and Dachau. This transfer also allows you to split your almost 5-hour trip into three smaller ones.

Dachau is one of the better known concentration camps. It is located in Munich and it has been preserved as a Holocaust memorial. Dachau is also the only concentration camp that persisted throughout the entirety of the Nazi regime. Although it was built for 6000 prisoners, Dachau ended up harboring over 32 000. Thousands of people died at the camp, either due to disease, hunger or murder. Visitors can freely walk Dachau's grounds or visit one of its many facilities. They can visit the dormitories, the museum and the crematorium. There are also dozens of tours available in plenty of different languages. The tour lasts for around 2.5 hours. Due to the nature of both stops, it is understandable that more sensitive individuals might want to cut their visit of the concentration camps short. If that is your case, please do not hesitate of speaking to the driver. He will accommodate your request and depart the camp earlier than the agreed-upon time. If, however, you would like to extend your stay at one of the concentration camps, it is also possible to do so. This extension service incurs an additional fee.

Located near the German-Czech border, the Flossenburg concentration camp was built next to natural granite deposits and designed as a labor camp. Prisoners at Flossenburg were not to be exterminated. Instead, they were to be forced to work in the granite mines, providing granite that would later be used in Nazi architecture. Despite its design as a forced labor camp, over 30 000 people died at Flossenburg. The camp was also only meant to harbor criminal and asocial prisoners. However, during the German invasion of the Soviet Union, the camp started harboring political prisoners, as well as the so-called "undesirables". By the time the Allies liberated the camp, over 100 000 prisoners had passed through Flossenburg. Flossesnburg will not strike visitors as a typical concentration camp. Since it was designed differently, and built on top of an already existing town, the camp has plenty of open spaces and little to no fences. The famous "Arbeit Macht Frei" inscription, which you will find at Dachau, is also not present at Flossenburg. The 2-hour stop at Flossenburg is just enough to go on a guided tour of the premises. Passengers are also free to roam the camp's premises if they choose not to go on a tour.

During both stops passengers are free to explore the areas on their own. Bags and other personal items will be safely secured in the car and the driver will look after them.
